About
I’m Luca, co-founder and COO of Double. I build software, grow products, and organize the people and systems behind them. Before that meant AI companies, it meant school projects, research posters, and a lot of soccer.
Building companies
Double turns expert knowledge into robot training data. Skilled professionals define and demonstrate a skill in a simulation we build; robotics teams train their own models on the data, and we measure the result. We started in 2025 as an AI career agent, where I led go-to-market and full-stack development: it grew from 0 to 5,000 users in five weeks, reached #7 product of the day on Product Hunt, and ran on scrapers I built to monitor career pages at 250,000+ companies and aggregate 5,000,000+ job listings a month. In September 2026 we focused entirely on robotics training data. We’re backed by Brickyard and based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Double grew out of Ascendia, the AI internship-search platform I co-founded while studying mathematics and computer science at Boston University. I owned operations, hiring, and product, and built the matching backend with TypeScript and PostgreSQL. I attended BU from 2023 to 2025 and left before completing my degree. In summer 2026, I was a Founders Inc fellow, building alongside other founders at Fort Mason in San Francisco.
Teams & operations
At Mercor, I managed a pod of 300+ experts on the Corporate Finance Expert data project and handled technical issues across the wider project of 1,500+ experts. That work meant keeping responsibilities clear, resolving blockers, and helping people keep moving. Earlier, I spent summer 2024 as a wealth management intern at Ameriprise in Northbrook, Illinois, learning how financial goals and time horizons shape decisions.
Growing an audience
From 2022 to 2024, I helped run and grow my friend’s urban exploration accounts, @urbexchi and @urbexil, on Instagram and TikTok. Their TikTok posts from those years have 3,346,226 observed views, and the two TikTok accounts have 20,422 combined followers in the September 2026 snapshot. It was early, hands-on experience with content and audience growth.
Across the accounts I’ve worked on, the posts collected on this site total 4,696,407 observed views. Those counts sit alongside the product launches and soccer results that have marked different parts of my life.
Where I started
I grew up around Des Plaines and Glenview, Illinois, attending Apollo, Pleasant Ridge, and Springman before graduating from Glenbrook South in 2023 with a 4.6 GPA. At Springman, I pitched a courtyard rebuild, secured a $10,000 budget, and organized work across seventh- and eighth-grade students. I also built a miniature revolving door that could charge an iPhone using a dynamo and Raspberry Pi 3.
Research & experiments
Through Glenbrook South’s Educational Science Research Program, I coauthored student research with Argonne National Laboratory collaborators. In 2021, we compared heavy metals and iron speciation in 36 northern Illinois soil samples. In 2022, we studied how repeated charging changes high-entropy oxide battery anodes. My senior research project took a different direction: building and back-testing an algorithmic trading bot.
I’ve also worked on an Arduino submarine safety simulation, a hand-powered screw mechanism, a penny hockey table with Arduino-connected LEDs, and a wind-turbine safety prototype. A digital hallway pass and an automated watering project explored smaller, everyday problems. Some were working builds; others were experiments that taught me to question assumptions and test the parts early.
On the field
I’m a two-time Illinois State Cup champion: with FC United in 2021 and Galaxy SC in 2022. In 2022, Galaxy also reached the US Youth Soccer National Championship final, finishing second in the United States in the U17 division. Alongside high-school and club soccer, I coached younger players through MyVarsityCoach, shaping drills around what each player wanted to improve. Playing and coaching taught me to prepare consistently, communicate clearly, and take responsibility for my part in a team.
